Learn to Fake Depth in Animation: Easily Animate a Swerving Car in After Effects by Lara Evens, Skillshar
Courses Content
In this class I’ll be teaching you how to use shape layers in After effects to create the illusion of a 3D motion in an animation. To do this I’ll show you step-by-step how I created this faux 3D (aka 2.5D) swerving car using only shape layers in After Effects.
To take this class you’ll need a basic understanding of After Effects but I’ll cover the process slowly and in detail so even if you’re a relative beginner in After Effects it shouldn’t be too difficult to follow along!
Since I’ll be covering a few examples and techniques along the way to this finalized animation by the end of the class you’ll know how to:
– Faking a 3D object using simple 2D shape layers
– Create dynamic smoke
– Add realistic bounces and movement to assets using expressions
– And lots more!
By following along with this class you’ll end up with a looping faux 3D car animation and a great understanding of some useful skills to apply to your next animation project!
Let’s get started!
